Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could yet be sacked as Manchester United manager, despite the best efforts of legendary boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, to keep him in the job, the UK Guardian reports.

Ferguson was at the club’s Carrington training ground on Tuesday, as Solskjaer picks up the pieces following Sunday’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.

But the final decision on the 48-year-old’s future rests with co-chairman Joel Glazer, head of the club’s American ownership.

Ferguson is of the opinion Solskjaer should be given time to turn United’s season around and should be in charge when they travel to Tottenham this Saturday.

Executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward and managing director Richard Arnold are ready to give Solskjaer a chance to put things right, but it is Glazer who will make the ultimate call.

Solskjaer is under serious pressure after taking just one point from the last 12 available in the Premier League, a poor run that sees United sit seventh in the table.
